I’d recommend looking into dynamic eq or side chain eq as well. Trackspacer is really good for the side chaining, but you can achieve the same results using the envelope follower and assigning to eq if you’re using Ableton. Just for anyone watching.

What I love to do is use an EQ on a low shelf, turn the Q down a bit, and automate the gain knob in this way, drawing in a shape just to make space for the low end of your kick to come through nicely without clashing with the sub. Then I like to use a compressor with a lighter side-chain for that "plunger" sort of effect. Thats my favourite way to sidechain kick and bass at the minute 🙌
